We are an organization of cake decorators and confectioners from Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland who enjoy getting together every month to visit, watch a demonstration and sample each other's creations.

Our purpose is to promote creativity and experimentation in cake decorating, sugar art, chocolate, pastries, candies, and just about anything edible that can be done decoratively.

Some of our members have been seen on Food Network Challenge, TLC’s Ultimate Cake Off and help run the National Capital Area Cake Show.

We welcome anyone interested in meeting other cake decorators and swapping ideas/techniques. To contact us and attend one of our meetings.

We meet at 7 p.m. on the 3rd Monday of each month in Alexandria Va.

I promote our local cake club, CASANOVA (Cake And Sugar Artists of Northern VA) by encouraging cake decorators or hobbyists to join. I have also served as Secretary, Vice President and currently President of this club. I belong to ICES (International Cake Exploration Society) and just recently was honored to receive recognition as a Certified Sugar Artist. One of only a handful of people worldwide to have received such. I also have served in many capacities to support NCACS (the National Capital Area Cake Show). The cake show gives cake decorators a chance to showcase and be awarded for their abilities. I did serve as the Secretary for the group which requires behind the scenes work to run the show. I also serve as the Cake Tour Guide and give ' guided tours' throughout the cake show to help inform and educate others about the cake show and the amazing talents and techniques which are displayed there.   I have appeared on the Food Network program of Extreme Cake Challenges . I enjoyed my first Food Network experience working as an assistant in the Extreme Alien cake competition. It was some hard work but a lot of great fun.

B. Keith Ryder has been decorating cakes since 1996. Prior to that, he worked in both professional and amateur theatre for over 20 years. He is a shop owner, cake show judge, two-term ICES President, current ICES Treasurer and Board Chairman, former ICES representative and local cake club president, and occasional contributor to American Cake Decorating Magazine. He was the cake room chairman for the 2004 ICES Convention in Washington, DC; Keith was the co-director of the annual Mid-Atlantic Cake Show and Wedding Cake Competition for 3 years, and is now the director of the National Capital Area Cake Show in Virginia. He has won numerous awards for his unique designs; he placed 6th of 65 in the Wedding Cake Competition at the Oklahoma Sugar Art Show in 2005, and can be seen prominently featured in the Food Network Special that was filmed during that event. Keith’s work has been featured in both the Washington Post and the Washington Times, and he is an internationally recognized instructor in the sugar arts..

Jim  serves as CASANOVA’s Secretary/Webmaster and is responsible for the newsletter for the club.  Once you become a member you will receive a monthly newsletter with events, classes and news.

Jim also is Co-Chairperson for the Youth Activities for the National Capital Cake Show where he helps teach cake decoration skills to our future decorators.  Other responsibilities for NCACS includes Webmaster for cakeshow.org.

In 2013 he was awarded “The Sweet Life Service Award”.

His cake decorating skills started when he registered and completed the Wilton Method courses and soon joined CASANOVA soon after which his skills improved greatly with the friendly support of our members.
